Agrigento Cepolina

Agrigento is a city on the southern coast of Sicily. It was one of the most powerful cities of Magna Grecia: the Greeks colonized the island founding ports useful for trading. Then it passed under the control of the Romans, the Byzantine Empire, and the Normans. You need to climb narrow alleys to visit the historical centre, but it is worthy. The main street is named Via Atenea: it is a long nice alley full of shops and entertainments. The city is built at the top of a hill: it dominates the Valley of the Temples. If you reach Agrigento coming from Palermo you get the chance to see the fascinating Sicilian countryside: cultivated fields, sweet hills, wild rocks and many windmills to produce clean energy.
