Alcamo is a city in the countryside, not far from Castellammare. It has a Medieval historic center. It was founded in the 14th century by Enrico and Federico Chiaromonte. The most relevant monument is the Modica Counts castle. The fort is characterized by four stone towers located at the four corners. The basilica is in Baroque style. This area is famous for the cultivation of grape: an appreciated white wine is produced here, that is good to drink with fish.
