Castellammare del Golfo is a nice sea village located on the north western coast of Sicily. It is not far from Trapani and Palermo. The name comes from the fortress, built just above the port. In summer the alleys are crowded of tourists; there are many facilities and restaurants where to eat good fresh fish. You have the chance to do many trips: do not miss Scopello, San Vito Lo Capo, the Zingaro natural reserve. Scopello is famous for its faraglioni: they are high rocks standing out of the sea. Close to them there is an old tonnara, that is a factory specialized in tuna fish products. The Zingaro was the first natural reserve created in Sicily. If you love trekking you have a large choice of trips, both in the country and on the sea; in summer you can refresh having a bath in one of the many enchanting bays.
