Gallipoli

Gallipoli is settled on the Ionian coast. The modern area offers many facilities for young people such as restaurants and discos; the old one is a small jewel closed on an island protected by the big Angioine castle. A bridge joins the island with the mainland. When you pass through the gate you just spend hours wandering here and there, exploring the alleys, the courts inside the houses, the churches. Saint Agata cathedral is in baroque style and has interesting frescos inside: in general the paintings are more precious if there are many details painted with red and blue, two colors that were realized using a precious pigments that is purple and lapislazuli.
