Harran is a small village not far from Sanliurfa: its peculiarity are the stone houses with conical roofs, which are similar to trulli located in Apulia, an Italian region. Most part of the village is inhabited, but several houses have been recently restored: in spite of the hot temperature, the houses are fresh inside. Harran is also an archaeological site: its importance during the Assyrian kingdom was related to its strategic position on the trade route from Damascus to Nineveh and Carchemish.
