Madurai

Madurai is the second largest city in Tamil Nadu. It was an important trading center. Today it is famous for sandalwood essential oil, for Meenakshi temple and for the beautiful Maharaja palace. As in other parts of India Hinduist and Muslim religion are both widely practiced. The sandalwood is mostly used for aromatherapy, candle and perfume: many India temples that have been built with this peculiar lumber still retain its pleasing aroma.
