Rome

Rome is the capital of Italy, the main city in Lazio. It is called the Eternal City because it was the capital of the Roman Empire and its magnificence has been going on for centuries. It is the most visited city in the world and the richest in artistic masterpieces. Its symbol is the Coliseum, but other highlights are the Roman Forum and church Saint Peter. It contains the Vatican City which is a separate state belonging to the Pope: it is the smallest state in the world and it is the capital of Catholicism. Rome was built on Seven Hills: Palatine, Aventine, Capitoline, Quirinal, Viminal, Esquiline and Caelian Hill.
