San Marco is the main square in Venice and one of its sestieri, that is districts. Here there is San Marco basilica, a highlight of Byzantine architecture. The inner church is decorated with gold and mosaic. Close to the cathedral there is the Doge's Palace who was the Patriarch of Venice, archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice. In front of the basilica there is a bell tower which was rebuilt in 1912 after a collapse. The symbol of the church and of the city are two lion. In the images you can see also the astronomic clock watch.
