Trani Cepolina

Trani is a seaside city located north of Bari. Its symbol is the huge cathedral facing the sea: when you walk along the promenade you can't avoid looking at it. It changes its appearance all day along according to the light: the local stone, used for building, reflects the sun getting pink at dawn, snow white at midday, orange at sunset. The simple front is decorated just by an enormous rose window. The cathedral is considered the masterpiece of Apulian Romanic_style. The Romanic part is the youngest: underground there are three more ancient churches. The historical center is rich in aristocratic buildings and old churches. The Templar' s church was built in the XII century close to the Templar' hospital. The most ancient is Saint Martin (X century): since the road level get higher during the centuries the church is now underground and hidden by the houses.
