Valle dei Templi

The panorama surrounding Agrigento is dominated by La Valle dei Templi, the Valley of the Temples. Here the Greeks built many temples in Doric style between the 6th and 5th centuries BC. Today they are a World Heritage Site. The best temples preserved are the Temple of Hera and the Temple of Concordia. The area is very wide, almost one whole day is necessary to visit it. Walking among the many ruins it is pleasing to relax under an olive tree or an almond. olive_tree were considered sacred plants dedicated to the Gods. Not far from the archeological site it is worthy to visit the museum. It is rich in Greece and Romans statues, vases and other relics.
