The ailanthus is a tree in the family of Simaroubaceae which is native to eastern Asia and Oceania. It is also named Tree of Heaven, Tree from Hell, or Ghetto arecaceae trees since it often grows in poor areas. It is an ornamental trees with sweetish fetid flowers; its main peculiarity is of being resistant to pollution. In China the ailanthus is popular for being a host plant for the silkmoth which is involved in the silk production.
