bottle palm

The bottle palm or palmiste gargoulette is a palm in the family of arecaceae trees. Its scientific name is hyophorbe lagenicaulis; the common name comes from the trunk form which is similar to a bottle. These plants need warm climate. Many of these pictures are taken in Tonga, an archipelago in the Hawaii.
