bromelia

The bromelia is in the family of bromeliaceae. The name comes from the Swedish botanist Bromelius. It is characterized by long army-like leaves and flowers with a deep calyx, but in some species it remains hidden in the earth. The pink, red or purple spike can be very tall. A resistant fiber called chaguar is obtained by a peculiar species and is used by a tribe living in Argentina.
