Carnivorous plants are tropical forest plants capable to trap and eat insects using different devices like closing leaves or a viscous calyx. In the category there is a dionaea or venus fly and a nepentes whose red calyx captures preys. This capability to eat insects derives from the extremely acid soil where these plants usually grow, where they can't find many nutritive substances.
