catamaran

A catamaran is a peculiar vessel characterised by two hulls joined together by a single deck. It was invented by a fishing population living in Tamil Nadu, in India. Now it is quite hard to see a sailing boat catamaran onto the sea: here there is one anchored in a bay and there are detailed images of the pointed hulls.
