The cedar is a coniferous plant in the family of pinaceae trees native to mountains areas of Asia and to the Mediterranean forest basin. It is cultivated for ornamental purpose and for its lumber which is good-scented and resistant. The cedar is the symbol of the Lebanese Republic in fact its image occurs on the flag.
