A dike is a high and large wall that encloses the water into a natural or artificial basin. A dike may be built in order to create a water reservoir for agriculture or for civil use. Also a dike can be built as reservoir for an energy power station. Countries rich in river use to making energy in this way. In the pictures there is a dam close to a lake: it is a one of three lakes called Gorzente that are on the border between Liguria and Piedmont in the north of Italy.
