As you can see Guilin centre is formed by large modern buildings that host hotels, fast food and shop malls. Walking along Li river banks you can find some interesting scenic spots: the most famous one is probably Xiangbi Shan whose shape resembles an elephant's trunk. Wandering around the city centre you can see some small lake with temples and pagodas; the Sun and Moon pagodas are located in Shan lake; Mulong lake hosts the Wooden dragon pagoda.
