The fruit is often used in pastry: the colour and the taste of strawberry, cherry, blackcurrants or kiwi make the sweets delicious and yummy. Marron glace are made with glazed chestnut; marzipan is a mix of sugar and almonds shaped like fruit; apple strudel is an Austrian roll-like cake; montebianco is made with chestnut and cream. The most curious sweet is the Java one: a mix of rice and banana is put on a thin baked veil of rice flour and served on a banana tree.
