The hazel or corylus avellana belongs to the family of Betulaceae and is native to Europe and western Asia. It is a trees growing 8 to 16 meters tall. The nuts are spherical and contained in a green husk: they are agriculture for commercial use. The flowers are catkins, that is slim, cylindrical clusters typical of betulaceae trees, fagaceae trees, moraceae and willow.
