historical centre Genoa Cepolina

Genoa historical center is one of the largest and best preserved in Europe; the narrow and twisty streets, called carugi, make it resembling a labyrinth. The old Medieval houses face one another and rise high towards the sky. In the last years this ancient part has been restored and made safe. Walking along the alleys sometimes you have the feeling to be in an Arab souq Morocco. Among the photos there is also Porta Soprana gate which is close to Columbus' birth house. Via Garibaldi, also called Golden Street, hosts the richest palaces of the city, built by the noble families during the XVI century, when Genoa was powerful for its trading and bank activity.
