
The Lama Temple, located in Beijing, is also named Yonghegong Temple, or Palace of Peace and Harmony or Yonghe Lamasery. It is the hugest and most famous complex of Buddhist-Tibetan temples in China. In the past it was the residence of the count Yin Zhen; in 1744 these buildings were transformed in temples for Tibetan monks. Here you can find beautiful painting, lumber ceiling, decorated roof, cultural relics and statue: the most precious statue is the one in sandal wood representing Lantau Maitreya which is 26 meters high. The main buildings are built along a central axis and embodied the peculiarities of Manchu, Han, Tibetan, Mongolian culture. Before the halls there are three memorial arc. You can see the photo of a rotating cylinder with prayers inscribed on its surface.
