Mackerel sky is a peculiar kind of clouds that takes name from the mackerel fish skin. It indicates weather instability at medium level, in fact there are popular adage about the coming rain as: "Mackerel in the sky, three days dry". The sky seems to be covered by soft white cotton or by a sheep flock.
