opuntia

The opuntia is in the family of cactaceae. It is also called prickly pears since it is characterized by oval fruit covered with spines that are sometimes food. The leaves are large, flat with two different kind of thorns, both hard and long and hair-like short spines. This cactaceae is quite tolerant to cold temperature in fact it is found also in northern America close to Canada.
