The paphiopedilum, or paph, is in the family of orchidaceae; it is probably the most popular and most cultivated among the orchidaceae. It is native to Asia. It is also called lady's slipper since the labellum is similar to a pouch. As you can see the colour turns from red to purple and brownish and the petals can be variegated.
