Peacocks are birds of the of the pheasant family, Phasianidae. The male are known for their extravagant fanlike tail with iridescent eyes or spots: it is a result of sexual selection, which it displays as part of courtship. The male is called a peacock, the female a peahen. The male's feathers colour is brown, blue and green.
