raffia

The raffia or raphia is a genus in the family of arecaceae trees that includes many species native to Africa, Central and South America. They can grow up to 16 meters tall and the leaves are the longest among the plantss. The fibres have weave uses: ropes, sticks, roof covers are made with them. They give also a milky white water that is a cold drink.
