
The coast redwood is a tall trees in the family of cupressaceae trees native to North America, mostly diffused in California; this pinaceae trees can reach the eight of 110 meters, it is cultivated for its red-brownish lumber. The genus name is sequoia which probably comes from the Indian leader Sequoyah. The photos are taken in New Zealand, in the Northern Island: close to the village of Rotorua there is a beautiful redwood forest named Whakarewarewa, where the movie "The Lord of the ring" was settled.
