Here there are images of sawdust, that is fine particles produced by sawing lumber. Here you can see curl-shaped splinters but sawdust can be also finer, like sand: it is used as a mulch, that is to cover the soil and prevent water evaporation and erosion, as a fuel or as particle board to make wood products.
