Japanese temples are richly decorated: wood is painted with gold and inlayed. The roof have curved and elegant shapes. Outside the temples there are often brass bell, gongs and lantern oriental and statue representing the gods. Temples can be Shintoist or Buddhist. Shintoism is the most ancient religion in Japan: it doesn't have a doctrine, but is based on the veneration of the nature which is a reflection of the spiritual being.
