The cordyline is in the family of Laxmanniaceae, it is native to Oceania, Africa and Asia. It is characterized by red-purplish long and flat leaves. It is a decorative shrub used in garden and parks. The name cordyline comes from the Greece word for club, referring to the large rhizome which is the underground stem from where roots and shoots are sent out.
