A cumulus is a cloud formed below 2000 m; it has defined edges and it seems like cotton. Cumulus means heap or pile, in fact these clouds have often a vertical development and can reach 6000 mt of altitude. Cumulus congestus clouds or towering cumulus are typical of instable area and bring lots of drops. As you cans see in the pictures the more prevailing colour is dark grey.
