gate iron wicket jail

This gothic-style wrought iron gate closes with a loud “clang” securing the perimeter of this jail. In what looks more like a mid-century castle than a twenty-first century jail, inmatesat this facility must make do without the comforts of modern living behind these stone cold walls and unforgiving iron gates. The sunlight leaking in through the mesh implies hope and longing – an outside world full of greenery and new life. This contrasts with the sterile stonework in the foreground, from which the viewer sees the image. The implication here is that one is stuck behind the gate, looking out into the open world.
