The Princes's Islands (Adalar in Turkish) are located in the Marmara Sea, 20 kilometers far from Istanbul. During the Bizantine empire the rebellious princes and the deposed kings where confined here. From the XIX century these islands where connected by the city by boats and became an holiday summer place for rich Jewish, Armenian and Greek merchants who built here their villas. This joyful atmosphere can be perspired still today. The peculiarity of these nine islands is the total missing of cars: the only way of transport are bicycles and carts pulled by horses.
