The tagetes is a plant in the family of Asteraceae. It is both annual and perennial and is native to Mexico and South America. It has pinnate leaves and colourful flowers, red, orange and yellow. It is also named marigold, though it must not be confused with the calendula. Here there are images of the variety tagetes patula. The tagetes is used for decoration in gardens and during special events like festivals and weddings. The liquid obtained from leaves and flowers has medical purpose to stop nasal bleeding.
